Vision
EC-MAP envisions an energy future where digital technologies drive greater transparency, fair competition, and consumer choice—and where policy enables innovation instead of creating market barriers. Learn more -
Strategic Values
EC-MAP values competitive markets and freedom to innovate. We support solutions that enable consumers—including large industrials, businesses of all sizes, and individuals—to have autonomy over their energy, environmental, and sustainability choices. Learn more -
A New Role for Government
EC-MAP believes government plays a fundamental role in the design, functioning and oversight of the energy system. However, emerging digital innovations require policymakers to rethink the role of government in achieving our energy and environmental goals. Learn more

Digital 101
The energy system—our electric grid, transportation infrastructure, and industrial energy production—is undergoing a digital transformation. Ubiquitous connectivity, inexpensive data storage, and faster networks for data transmission have led to exponential growth in energy data. Crosscutting digital tools and platforms are already being deployed to analyze, optimize, and monetize this data in new ways.
For the first time, energy consumers—from large industries to small businesses and individual customers—are gaining access to their energy data and driving demand for increased transparency, competition, and choice.

Intersection of Digital Technology and Energy Systems
Digital technologies are already being integrated with the energy system, and the pace of deployment is projected to accelerate in the coming years. EC-MAP is challenging stakeholders to consider how these digital innovations enable consumers to express preferences that drive markets and how policy must evolve. EC-MAP will focus on three areas:
